Summer solstice:
Yearning for the light
Gallery Athanor
The summer solstice is a global and cultural marker for the change in seasons and the continuous passage of time. It is often connected with hope, positivity, and the turn of the tide. In ancient Chinese mythology, the Summer Solstice is also a day of abundant knowledge, when a deity is said to have discovered the hidden principles of the seasons and the universe. Embracing tradition and contemporary interpretations, the exhibition tightly embodies the hopefulness of the summer solstice by investigating how AANHPI artists and others draw upon the knowledge and experiences they have gained through life and heritage to bring about change for their community and reconstruct their own identities.
This exhibition is co-curated by Third Pine Collective and Gallery Athanor, an artist-run private gallery in Kansas City.
