Bio

Matt Nguyen is a biracial, Vietnamese-American comics artist based in Kansas City. Matt seeks to tell human stories in a fantastical world, tackling “big” questions of the human experience through whimsy and childlike imagination. His comics reflect his own experiences with identity, belonging, and direction, chiefly told through his fictional counterpart Bubba–a robot koala who goes on magical journeys of self-discovery. Matt’s current project, Dreamtime, is a series of comics and illustrations that follow Matt and Bubba tasked to carry orbs of light through a dark, mysterious, and dangerous natural world.
