June 21, 12 PM – 4 PM. Snacks and drinks provided. No RSVP required.
Being the day that marks the beginning of summer and also having the longest daylight of the year, the summer solstice is often connected with hope, positivity, and the turn of the tide. In ancient Chinese mythology, the Summer Solstice is also a day of abundant knowledge, when a deity is said to have discovered the hidden principles of the seasons and the universe.
Embracing tradition and contemporary interpretations, the exhibition tightly embodies the hopefulness of the summer solstice by investigating how AANHPI artists draw upon the knowledge and experiences they have gained through life and heritage to bring about change for their community and reconstruct their own identities.
