Artist Statement

I consider myself first and foremost a drawer, an identity often overlooked in the art world. Drawing is frequently dismissed as a preliminary step, or a simple practice. I embrace drawing as a fully realized form of expression capable of depth, precision, vulnerability, and conceptual impact. Working in pastels, charcoal, and graphite, I challenge the assumption that drawing is preparatory, instead presenting a compelling visual language.

Coming from both Hispanic and Asian heritage, I've always lived within layered perspectives and blended narratives. That complexity influences my interest in honoring the quiet, unnoticed moments. My practice is strengthened by my love of art history. Drawing allows me to engage with a long artistic lineage while reimagining its possibilities today. Alongside my studio work, I'm passionate about curatorial practice and the conversations exhibitions can spark.
